December in the desert brings rain and chilly weather! Gilda donned her pink sweater with the flower on her butt, and Buddy sported his green with orange pubby-dubby on his butt!! While I worked on a couple quilts brought to me by a friend where I used to work!

Both need final finishing touches but are certainly recognizable The Santa is from Threads That Bind (purchased at Cutting Edge Quiltworks inChandler, AZ., and the wallhanging is Paisley Garden from Attic Heirlooms and purchased at the Sewing Expo last January here in Phoenix!

It's November!

...And the cooler weather is here (well-a LITTLE cooler, that is!). And my friend Wandie will be coming for a visit next week!!

My Christmas preparations have kind of ground to a halt although I did finish one quilt top for one grandson and hope to get it quilted today or tomorrow. I also made a real, genuine PURSE! I am using it now to see how it performs and what modifications I need to make. Hope I can successfully post these pix. I have almost forgotten how to do this blog-thingy!!

Anyway, I hope to see some little messages and new followers and my hope is to be as prolific as Pat Sloan someday!!!

Summer is Ending...I hope!

Although it is still over 100 degrees here in Phoenix, Happy Frog Quilting (me) is turning its attention to Christmas! After all, the wonderful snow and frosty noses--aw, heck! That is not going to happen here, but it will *somewhere*!

Anyway, we are churning out some great items for friends etc.

Here is an example-

Take a look at this!! I think i will be stunning! What do you think?

I love Triangles on a Roll from Quilters' Ranch!

These come in various sizes and make life easy! No more snarling of threads nor losing tips of triangles in the sewing machine somehow! Just follow the directions on the paper itself and soon you, too, will have mountains of half-square triangles to design with!

Just a little tip--don't slice between two units until you remove the paper. Use smaller stitches and fold the paper first to help the paper tear off easily.

Here you see me using the 2" finished type!

Happy quilting!

making a list and checking it twice!

I think the heat may be abating! It is only going to be 98 degrees today!!

Sooooooo, I think now is a good time to start on holiday gifts. While keeping that in mind, I have systematically pulled almost every pattern I own, most of the fabric in the cabinet, and any little scrap of paper with an idea jotted upon it--and deposited it on every available surface in my studio!

Does anyone else out there do this? I *know* I am not the only one!! LOL!

leave me a comment and tell me (or even better-show me) what you are working on and what your sewing area looks like when you work!!!

Why do they call August "The Dog Days of Summer", I wonder????

I should think "Living in a Volcano" would be more descriptive! Phoenix is pretty hot this time of year, and with the monsoon which visits us at this time, we also have humidity!
Anyway, this time of year is perfect for quilting on the longarm because you do not have to have the quilt on your lap!!
Here are some pix of Rose's Lily Pads being quilted!!
Please click to follow Happy Frog Quilting, too, while you are here!

Finishing some projects, starting others!

Tacking binding on the Village Square quilt, along with a hanging sleeve. Hoping to get Rose's quilt at least on the frame today. Also got two other quilts which need to be quilted from my friend, Jane!

I think this *may* be the beginning of a real business-lol!

Wanted to upload some thumbnails of some of the pantographs I have available, but I need to figure out exactly how!

And to make my day completely, there will be new Diamondbacks baseball on TV today. Yippee!

The summer heat is back...

...after a nice little moist respite!!!

Things are getting hot here in the studio, too; namely the sewing machine and the Gammill! Finished quilting the Village Square quilt (from a Whimsicals' pattern) and now making binding-woo hoo!

Also thanks to Doreen, listening to Billie Holiday, Glenn Miller on Pandora website--no commercials screaming at me!!!

Ok, here is the finished quilt top-tentatively called Rose's Lily Pads!

Lovely, lovely rain!!

I know, I always get very excited about rain (wonder if I will be the same when I get back home?), but I awoke to pattering of water all about! I am caring for my neighbors doggies this weekend, so I gout out the umbrella, and went over to do the first of the feeding and doggie-wrangling!

The desert really needs the nourishing rain and somehow it nourishes my soul, too!

It is going to be a beautiful day to finish Rose's Lily Pads!!!

August 2010 Activities

Hello, again! I have finished the Whimsicals' Village Square and am now quilting it!!! My first attempt to meander. I know, everybody already knows how, or nobody likes meandering/stippling, but this is *my* quilt and I like meandering!!

Pix to follow!
